As stated in Article R. 234-7 of the French Rural and Maritime Fishing Code, which reads as follows:
“The administration of veterinary medicinal products mentioned in article D. 234-6 to animals of species whose flesh or products are intended for human consumption must be carried out by the prescribing veterinarian. These treatments are recorded in the breeding register provided for in article L. 234-1 of the Rural and Maritime Fishing Code and in the register provided for in article R. 5141-120 of the Public Health Code.
However, veterinary medicinal products containing :
hormones, with the exception of oestradiol 17 beta or its ester-like derivatives, for synchronisation of the oestrous cycle, preparation for embryo donation and implantation;
-trembolone allyl orally, in equidae;
-beta-agonists in equidae.
In this case, the prescribing veterinarian draws up a non-renewable prescription under the conditions set out in article R. 5141-111 of the Public Health Code and mentions the name and position of the person administering the medicine in the breeding register provided for in article L. 234-1 of the Rural and Maritime Fishing Code. “
