Veterinarians alone are authorised to administer, in the cases provided for in Article L. 5143-4, to equidae declared as being intended for slaughter for human consumption, medicinal products for human use classified in one of the categories subject to restricted prescription by Article R. 5121-77, benefiting from a marketing authorisation and containing the substances listed in the Annex to Commission Regulation (EC) No 1950/2006 of 13 December 2006 establishing a list of substances essential for the treatment of equidae.
A list of medicinal products for human use accessible to veterinarians under the aforementioned conditions is published electronically by the Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail.
A medicinal product for human use is removed from this list if there is a medicinal product for human use containing the same substance which does not fall into one of the restricted prescription categories. It is also removed from the list if a marketing authorisation or temporary use authorisation is granted to a veterinary medicinal product containing the same substance.
