Authorisation to open a veterinary pharmaceutical establishment is granted to the company to which it belongs by the Director General of the Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail, after investigation by the competent inspectorate and after obtaining the opinion, as appropriate, of the competent central council or councils of the Ordre national des pharmaciens or the competent regional council or councils of the Ordre national des vétérinaires. If the relevant council has not given its opinion within two months, the Director General may take a decision.
When a company has several veterinary pharmaceutical establishments, each of them is subject to a separate authorisation.
For establishments where veterinary medicinal products are manufactured or imported, the authorisation specifies the pharmaceutical forms concerned or, where applicable, the nature of the medicinal products concerned.
The authorisation to open specifies the activity provided for in article R. 5142-1 for which it is granted. For the same establishment, the authorisation may mention several activities.
