Article R55-3 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In the event of conviction to a fine, the reduction provided for by Article 707-2 only applies in the event of simultaneous payment, within one month, of the fine, the fixed procedural fee provided for by the provisions of article 1018 A of the General Tax Code and, where applicable, the increase in the fine provided for by the articles L. 211-27 and L. 421-8 of the Insurance Code in the event of conviction for the offence of failure to take out insurance as provided for by the article L. 324-2 du code de la route or for hunting offences.

The reduction applies to all sums due.

When a deposit has been paid pursuant to the provisions of Article 529-10 of this code or of article L. 121-4 of the Highway Code, the reduction only applies to the outstanding sums.

En cas de condamnation à une peine d’amende, la diminution prévue par l’article 707-2 ne s’applique qu’en cas de paiement simultané, dans le délai d’un mois, de l’amende, du droit fixe de procédure prévu par les dispositions de l’article 1018 A du code général des impôts et, s’il y a lieu, de la majoration de l’amende prévue par les articles L. 211-27 et L. 421-8 du code des assurances en cas de condamnation pour le délit de défaut d’assurance prévu par l’article L. 324-2 du code de la route ou pour les infractions en matière de chasse.

La diminution porte sur l’ensemble des sommes dues.

Lorsqu’une consignation a été versée en application des dispositions de l’article 529-10 du présent code ou de l’article L. 121-4 du code de la route, la diminution ne porte que sur les sommes restant dues.
