Hospital practitioners governed by sections 1 and 2 who wish to extend their period of service must submit a request to the director general of the Centre national de gestion and at the same time to the director of the establishment, at least six months before the date on which they reach the age limit. The request shall specify the establishment in which they wish to continue working.
The extension is granted for periods of six months or one year, subject to physical and mental fitness as attested by a certificate issued by an approved doctor.
The director of the establishment named in the request shall forward it without delay to the chairman of the establishment’s medical committee and to the head of the department or, failing that, to the head of the internal structure, for their reasoned opinion. In the absence of a response within the time limit indicated, these opinions are deemed to have been given.
At least four months before the date on which the age limit will be reached, the director of the establishment will send the director general of the Centre National de Gestion his reasoned opinion as well as the opinions and the medical certificate mentioned in the second and third paragraphs.
If the extension of activity is granted, the practitioner is kept in the post he occupied at the time of the request.
If the extension is granted in an establishment other than the establishment to which the practitioner is assigned, it may only relate to a post that remained vacant at the end of the last round of recruitment.
In all cases, the Director General of the Centre National de Gestion will notify the practitioner of his decision at least three months before the date on which the practitioner will reach the age limit.
