Automated external defibrillators, which for the purposes of this section are fully automatic external defibrillators and semi-automatic external defibrillators, are a medical device authorised to be placed on the market in accordance with the provisions of Title I of Book II of Part V of this Code and enabling :
1° Automatic analysis of the electrical activity of the myocardium of a person in circulatory arrest in order to detect ventricular fibrillation or certain ventricular tachycardias ;
2° Automatic loading of the device when the analysis mentioned above is positive and delivery of transthoracic external electric shocks of appropriate intensity, with the aim of restoring circulatory activity. Each shock is triggered either by the operator when using the semi-automatic defibrillator, or automatically when using the fully automatic defibrillator;
3° The recording of segments of myocardial electrical activity and data on the use of the device.
