I.-In the context of the care of patients by the emergency medical assistance services and the services contributing to emergency medical assistance mentioned in article L. 6311-2, ambulance drivers who hold a diploma mentioned in article L. 4393-2 and fulfilling the condition mentioned in IV may, under the responsibility of the doctor in charge of the telephone regulation provided for in 1° of article R. 6123-1 or of the doctor in the intervention team of the mobile emergency and resuscitation structure, perform the acts or provide the care listed in II and III.
II.-The following procedures are carried out in constant liaison with the doctor mentioned in I:
1° Non-invasive taking of temperature, heartbeat and blood pressure;
2° Collection of blood sugar levels by brief capillary capture or transdermal reading;
3° Aerosol administration of non-medicated products;
4° Assessment of pain and observation of signs of consciousness;
5° Non-invasive collection of oxygen or carbon monoxide saturation levels.
III.The following procedures are carried out on the prescription of the doctor mentioned in I, when he considers that the urgency of the situation requires it:
1° Administration of aerosols or sprays of medicinal products, in the presence of a clinical picture of :
a) Severe acute asthma, provided that the person is a known asthmatic and is receiving this drug treatment as a matter of course;
b) Acute pain;
2° Oral or intranasal administration of medicinal products in accordance with the recommendations for good practice issued by learned societies, in the presence of a clinical picture of :
a) Opiate overdose;
b) Acute pain;
3° Administration of medicinal products by auto-injector pen, in the presence of a clinical picture of :
a) Anaphylactic shock, when the person is a known allergic;
b) Hypoglycaemia, when the person is a known diabetic;
4° Recording and transmission of electrocardiograms for diagnostic purposes using an automated tool;
5° Collection of haemoglobinaemia.
IV – Only ambulance drivers who have completed training under the conditions defined by an order from the Minister for Health are authorised to perform the procedures mentioned in II and III.
