A medico-psychological emergency unit, known as a “regional medico-psychological emergency unit”, designated by order of the Minister for Health, is responsible for the regional coordination of departmental medico-psychological emergency units, which consists in particular of :
1° Drawing up the regional list of professionals working in the medical-psychological emergency units on the basis of lists submitted by the referring psychiatrists, and forwarding this list to the regional health agency;
2° Participate in the training of professionals specialising or competent in mental health and of emergency medical and psychological services in the management of disasters or accidents involving a large number of victims or likely to have significant psychological repercussions due to their nature, in conjunction with the referring psychiatrists of the departmental emergency medical and psychological services;
3° Working with the referral psychiatrists from the departmental medical and psychological emergency units, ensure compliance with national treatment guidelines;
4° Organise continuity of medical and psychological care with all the referring psychiatrists of the departmental medical and psychological emergency units;
5° Drawing up the activity report for the departmental medical-psychological emergency units and forwarding it to the regional health agency.
