I.-The emergency medical assistance service referred to in article L. 6311-2 may call upon companies holding health transport approval for any request for urgent health transport, requiring a rapid response adapted to the patient’s condition.
The company that responds to this request, in particular as part of the on-call service provided for in article R. 6312-18 :
1° Send a crew to the patient within the time limit set by the emergency medical assistance service;
2° Carry out a clinical assessment of the patient, which it immediately communicates to the emergency medical assistance service;
3° If necessary, carry out emergency first aid appropriate to the patient’s condition, within the limits of the crew’s skills and on the prescription of the emergency medical assistance service’s regulating doctor;
4° Route the patient, if necessary, to the place of care determined by the emergency medical assistance service and appearing on the list drawn up by the director general of the regional health agency;
5° Inform the emergency medical assistance service of any change in the patient’s condition during the mission;
6° Transmit administrative and clinical information relating to the patient on arrival at the place of care;
7° Where applicable, participate in the performance of telemedical acts, within the scope of their skills and under the supervision of the regulating doctor.
II.After transmission of the clinical assessment by the medical transport crew, the emergency medical assistance service may decide that it is not necessary to transport the patient, for one of the following reasons:
1° Absence of the patient at the site of the operation;
2° No need for treatment by a care structure or health professional;
3° Care provided to the patient at the site of the operation with no need for additional treatment;
4° Transport to be carried out by another suitable means;
5° Refusal of treatment by the patient;
6° Death of the patient.
III – Medical transport companies can also be mobilised to carry out transport as an extension of the intervention of a fire and rescue service, including from a place of care where this relay is organised.
IV – Medical transport companies carry out interventions requested by the emergency medical service in the context of exceptional health situations.
