In order to respond to requests for urgent medical transport from the urgent medical aid service mentioned in article R. 6312-17-1, a medical transport on-call service is provided in each departmental or interdepartmental area within the same region, at any time of the day or night.
The departmental territory is divided into on-call sectors based in particular on the number of inhabitants, geographical constraints and the location of health establishments. An on-call sector may cover several departments within the same region.
The duration of on-call duty can be adapted to the different sectors, depending on the expected level of activity.
In the sectors in which the adaptation provided for in the previous paragraph is implemented, an hourly substitution allowance, charged to the fund mentioned in article L. 1435-8, is paid to the fire and rescue service likely to intervene. The amount and terms of payment of this allowance are set by joint order of the Minister for Civil Protection, the Minister for Health and the Minister for Social Security.
