Article R718-5 of the French Intellectual Property Code

All correspondence or documents relating to proceedings before the National Institute of Industrial Property provided for in this Title shall be filed at the registered office of the Institute or sent there by post or by any means of teletransmission under the conditions defined by decision of its Director General. Their filing date shall be that of receipt at the registered office of the Institute.

The Director General of the National Institute of Industrial Property may require filing in electronic form where this method is likely to facilitate the examination and publication of such documents.

The Institute shall provide assistance to applicants by any appropriate means, specified by decision of its Director General.

Any correspondence or document relating to a procedure provided for in this Title filed with the Institute under the conditions referred to in the first paragraph by an agent other than that mentioned in the National Register of Trademarks, shall be in order. In the absence of express specification, such agent shall be substituted for the agent mentioned in the Register for subsequent notifications in connection with the proceedings instituted.

Toute correspondance ou toute pièce relatives à une procédure devant l’Institut national de la propriété industrielle prévue par le présent titre sont déposées au siège de l’institut ou y sont envoyées par pli postal ou par tout mode de télétransmission dans les conditions définies par décision de son directeur général. Leur date de dépôt est celle de la réception au siège de l’institut.

Le directeur général de l’Institut national de la propriété industrielle peut imposer un dépôt sous forme électronique lorsque cette modalité est de nature à faciliter l’examen et la publication de ces pièces.

L’institut apporte une assistance aux déposants par tout moyen approprié, précisé par décision de son directeur général.

Toute correspondance ou pièce relatives à une procédure prévue par le présent titre déposée dans les conditions mentionnées au premier alinéa devant l’Institut par un mandataire autre que celui mentionné dans le registre national des marques, est régulière. A défaut de précision expresse, ce mandataire est substitué à celui mentionné au registre pour les notifications ultérieures dans le cadre de la procédure engagée.
