Article R7226-8 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The term of office of a member who loses the capacity by virtue of which he or she was appointed or who is deprived of the right to vote expires by operation of law.

The resignation of a member is received by the President of the Economic, Social, Environmental, Cultural and Education Council, who immediately notifies the President of the Executive Council and the representative of the State.

A member whose absence without justification from at least half of the meetings has been recorded by the Council’s bureau over a period of one year may, on the bureau’s proposal, be declared to have resigned automatically by the representative of the State.

Expire de droit le mandat du membre qui perd la qualité en vertu de laquelle il a été désigné ou qui se trouve privé du droit électoral.

La démission d’un membre est reçue par le président du conseil économique, social, environnemental, de la culture et de l’éducation, qui en avise immédiatement le président du conseil exécutif et le représentant de l’Etat.

Tout membre dont l’absence non motivée à la moitié des séances au moins aura été constatée au cours d’une période d’un an par le bureau du conseil pourra être déclaré, sur proposition du bureau, démissionnaire d’office par le représentant de l’Etat.
