Article R8121-14 of the French Labour Code

The Directorate General for Labour :

1° Determines labour policy guidelines, coordinates and evaluates actions, particularly with regard to monitoring the application of labour law;

2° Contributes to defining the organisational principles of the territorial network;

3° Provides support and assistance to the decentralised departments in the performance of their duties;

4° Ensures compliance with the ethical rules applicable to labour inspectors;

5° Coordinates liaison with services performing labour inspection functions for other ministerial departments;

6° Conducts specific inspection actions.

La direction générale du travail :


1° Détermine les orientations de la politique du travail, coordonne et évalue les actions, notamment en matière de contrôle de l’application du droit du travail ;


2° Contribue à la définition des principes de l’organisation du réseau territorial ;


3° Assure l’appui et le soutien des services déconcentrés dans l’exercice de leurs missions ;


4° Veille au respect des règles déontologiques des agents de l’inspection du travail ;


5° Coordonne les liaisons avec les services exerçant des fonctions d’inspection du travail relevant d’autres départements ministériels ;

6° Conduit des actions spécifiques de contrôle.
