The Prefect exercises police powers within the national interest market. Within the reference perimeter, he ensures that the laws and regulations affecting the market are applied and, to this end, reports any offences committed to the public prosecutor. Where the market with its reference perimeter extends over several départements, the above powers belong to the prefect designated by the Minister of the Interior.
