Chapter VII: Pharmacy inspection.

Pharmacy inspections are carried out by public health pharmacist inspectors and by inspectors from regional health agencies who are qualified pharmacists.

The inspectors mentioned in article L. 5127-1, acting in accordance with the provisions of articles L. 1421-2 and L. 1421-3 may, pending the results of the analysis of the samples taken or the communication of the documents requested, consign products that present or are likely to present a danger to human health. The inspectors referred to in Article L. 5127-1 shall report to the competent authorities any breaches of professional pharmacy rules that they observe in the course of their duties. They shall carry out the investigations prescribed by the hierarchical authority or requested by the competent professional bodies.

The remit of some of the inspectors mentioned in Article L. 5127-1 may, where necessary, be extended to certain regions.

The inspectors referred to in article L. 5127-1 may not engage in any other professional activity, unless it is carried out exclusively in a health establishment. However, they may belong to the teaching staff of medical and pharmaceutical training and research units. The inspectors mentioned in article L. 5127-1 must be replaced by their colleagues for the inspection of pharmacies or establishments operated by owners of which they are related or connected up to and including the fourth degree.
