The Minister for Health may make foodstuffs intended for special medical purposes that meet the particular nutritional requirements of people suffering from certain medical conditions subject to compulsory medical prescription.

When the consumption of a foodstuff intended for special medical purposes may present serious health risks if misused, the producer and distributor shall notify the competent administrative authority designated by order of the ministers responsible for consumption and health.
