The Government sets the date of an annual event called “No Smoking Day” by decree.
Prophylactic and psychological health information is provided in schools and the armed forces. As part of health education, awareness of the risk of smoking is organised, in a compulsory form, in primary and secondary school classes.
Nicotine replacement products may be prescribed by : 1° Doctors, including occupational physicians, for workers ; 2° Dental surgeons, in application of article L. 4141-2 ; 3° Midwives, in application of article L. 4151-4 ; 4° Nurses, in application of article L. 4311-1 ; 5° masseur-physiotherapists, in application of article L. 4321-1.
