It is forbidden to employ pregnant women, women who have recently given birth or women who are breastfeeding in certain categories of work which, because of their condition, present risks to their health or safety. These categories of work are determined by regulation.

Article L4152-2 of the French Labour Code

In accordance with the provisions of articles L. 1225-12 et seq., the employer shall offer an employee who is in a medically certified state of pregnancy, has recently given birth or is breast-feeding, and who works in a job that exposes her to risks determined by regulation, another job that is compatible with her state of health.
