Article L8261-1 of the French Labour Code
No employee may perform paid work in excess of the maximum working hours laid down by the legal provisions applicable to his or her profession.

No employee may perform paid work in excess of the maximum working hours laid down by the legal provisions applicable to his or her profession.
No person may use the services of a person who does not comply with the provisions of this section.
The following are excluded from the prohibitions set out in article L. 8261-1: 1° Work of a scientific, literary or artistic nature and assistance given to works of general interest, in particular teaching, educational or charitable work ; 2° Work carried out for one’s own account or free of charge in the form of voluntary mutual assistance; 3° Minor domestic work carried out for private individuals for their personal needs;…
