Section 3: The mayor

The mayor administers communal affairs insofar as the intervention of the municipal council is not required. He prepares the deliberations of the municipal council. He alone is responsible for their execution.

The mayor exercises the attributions falling under the administration of the State which are entrusted to him by law or regulations as well as those referred to him by the decisions of the representative of the State in the department. As an organ of the State administration, the mayor is responsible only to the State authorities.

Every year, the mayor presents a report to the town council on the operation and results of the administration as a whole during the past year. At the town council’s request, this report is published.
