Article L3123-26 of the French General Code of Local Authorities
The départements are liable, under the conditions set out in article L. 2123-31, for accidents suffered by members of departmental councils in the performance of their duties.

The départements are liable, under the conditions set out in article L. 2123-31, for accidents suffered by members of departmental councils in the performance of their duties.
When the local elected representatives referred to in article L. 3123-26 are victims of an accident occurring in the course of their duties, the public authorities concerned shall pay directly to practitioners, pharmacists, medical auxiliaries, suppliers and establishments the amount of the benefits relating to this accident calculated in accordance with the rates applied in health insurance matters.
