Section 3: Authorisation for cross-border movement of embryos

The authorisation to move embryos referred to in Article L. 2141-9 is issued by the Director General of the Agence de la biomédecine to a medical biology establishment, body or laboratory authorised to carry out the biological activities of medically assisted procreation referred to in 2° of Article R. 2142-1 to enable the couple or unmarried woman to pursue their parental project.

The application for authorisation must be sent to the Director General of the Agence de la biomédecine by any means capable of establishing a date of receipt. The Director General of the Agence de la biomédecine will take a decision within two months of receipt of the complete application.
