Article R6123-111 of the French Public Health Code
The treatment of severe burns referred to in 9° of article R. 6122-25 consists of caring for patients suffering from burns that are serious in terms of their extent, depth or location.

The treatment of severe burns referred to in 9° of article R. 6122-25 consists of caring for patients suffering from burns that are serious in terms of their extent, depth or location.
The authorisation to provide burns treatment specifies whether the authorisation holder provides treatment for adults, children or both adults and children.
The establishment authorised to carry out the activity of treating severe burns has, on the same site, coordinated resources enabling it to receive and provide care at any time : 1° Patients requiring specific intensive care ; 2° Patients requiring specific surgical care. These coordinated resources constitute the burns treatment structure. The authorised establishment organises the coordination of care for patients requiring the intervention of other professionals or technical resources.
The burns treatment facility provides ongoing assistance to establishments authorised to carry out the emergency medical care activities referred to in article R. 6123-1 with a view to establishing the diagnosis of patients with burns treated in an emergency and organising, where necessary, their referral to a burns treatment facility. When a patient is discharged from the burns treatment facility, the authorisation holder organises the continuity of care and, if necessary, the transfer of the patient to another hospital unit. In order to enable the care of patients whose state of health requires follow-up care and functional re-education and rehabilitation, the authorisation holder enters into an agreement with one or more establishments authorised to carry out follow-up care and functional…
The agreements referred to in articles R. 6123-114 and R. 6123-115 specify the procedures for collaboration between the medical and paramedical teams of the establishments, in particular the procedures for admission and discharge, the conditions for the care and transfer of patients, as well as the procedures for evaluating the implementation of this collaboration.
The authorisation holder provides advice and expertise to health establishments treating patients with burns. It takes part in prevention initiatives and, to this end, collects data on the causes of the burns it treats.
