Section 2: Permanence of dental care

A permanent dental care service, provided by private practice dentists, dental surgeons working in partnership and dental surgeons employed by health centres, is organised in each department on Sundays and public holidays. Dental surgeons take part in this as part of their ethical obligation as set out in article R. 4127-245.

The organisation of on-call dental care in the region is the subject of an order by the Director General of the Regional Health Agency, which specifies the perimeter of the sectors and the times when this on-call care is provided, taking into account the existing dental care on offer, particularly in hospitals, and sets out the arrangements for public access to the on-call practitioner. For each sector, a duty roster is drawn up for a minimum period of three months by the departmental dental surgeons’ council. It specifies the name and place of dispensing of each dental surgeon’s procedures, subject to the exemptions provided for in article R. 4127-245.
