Subsection 2: Employee participation in the nation's economic development.

The participation of employees in the economic development of the nation provided for in 2° of article L. 3231-2 is ensured, independently of the application of article L. 3231-4, by setting the minimum growth wage each year with effect from 1st January.

The minimum growth wage rate is set by regulation following a procedure determined by decree.

In no case may the annual increase in the purchasing power of the minimum growth wage be less than half the increase in the purchasing power of average hourly wages recorded by the quarterly survey conducted by the Ministry of Labour. The reference index may be modified by regulation.

Successive annual increases in the minimum growth wage must aim to eliminate any lasting distortion between its increase and changes in general economic conditions and incomes.
