Subsection 2: Recruitment.

The following may be recruited 1° As general hospital assistants, doctors, dental surgeons and pharmacists who meet the legal conditions for practising their profession; 2° As specialist assistants, the practitioners mentioned in 1° who also hold one of the qualifications or diplomas defined by order of the ministers responsible for higher education and health.

General and specialist hospital assistants carry out diagnostic, care and preventive functions on a full-time or part-time basis or perform pharmaceutical or biological procedures within the establishment, under the authority of the head of the department or, failing this, the head of the department, functional unit or any other internal structure to which they report. Assistants participate in continuity of care or pharmaceutical duty in conjunction with other members of the medical profession or other pharmacists in the establishment. Teaching assistants may be appointed as lecturers under the conditions defined by article L. 952-1 of the Education Code.

Hospital assistants must maintain and improve their knowledge. Their continuing professional development is organised by the plan mentioned in 8° of article R. 6144-1 and within the framework of the territorial policy mentioned in 5° of II of article R. 6132-10-1.

Assistant posts to be filled are advertised by the establishment concerned by posting and by any other means. The deadline for applications is at least one month after the date of posting in the establishment.

A hospital career commitment agreement may be concluded, on the proposal of the head of the division or, failing that, the head of the department, the head of the functional unit or another internal structure, and after obtaining the opinion of the chairman of the establishment’s medical committee, between the director of a public health establishment and a contractual practitioner if the latter is recruited for a position in a…

Candidates for the post of assistant must provide proof, in the form of a certificate issued by a hospital doctor, that they are physically and mentally fit to perform the hospital duties for which they are applying.

Assistants are recruited by written contract with the director of the public health establishment, on the proposal of the head of the department or, failing that, the head of the service, functional unit or any other internal structure, after obtaining the opinion of the chairman of the establishment’s medical committee.

Assistants are recruited for an initial period of either one year or two years, renewable for periods of one year, but the total period of service as an assistant may not exceed six years.
