Subsection 1: General provisions.

The approval required for medical transport is issued by the Director General of the Regional Health Agency. If the application for approval is not acted upon for more than four months, the decision is deemed to have been accepted.

The composition of the file provided in support of an application for approval is determined by order of the Minister for Health.

Only medical transport companies that have received the approval instituted by article L. 6312-2 are entitled to the designation of approved ambulance companies or approved air medical transport companies. Only their vehicles or aircraft used for such transport may bear a distinctive emblem conforming to the model laid down by order of the Minister for Health.

Persons holding authorisation are required to submit vehicles and aircraft used for medical transport to inspection by the services of the regional health agency in accordance with the procedures laid down by order of the Minister for Health.

In the event of non-compliance with the obligations of this section by a person benefiting from approval, the latter, after the person concerned has been given the opportunity to present his observations, prior to the opinion of the medical transport sub-committee, may be withdrawn temporarily or for an unlimited period by reasoned decision of the Director General of the regional health agency.
