Pharmacists are prohibited from dispensing unauthorised medicines.

Pharmacists are required to participate in the on-call and emergency services provided for in article L. 5125-22 or organised by the competent authorities for the care of hospitalised patients. No pharmacist may keep a pharmacy open, or a pharmacy for internal use in operation, if he is unable to practise personally or if he is not effectively and regularly replaced.

The pharmacist entrusted with the management of a pharmacy after the death of the proprietor must, while taking account of the legitimate interests of the successors, require them to respect his professional independence.
