Doctors working in the paediatric emergency unit must have a qualification in paediatrics or child surgery. However, any doctor with at least six months’ equivalent professional experience in paediatrics may also participate in the operation of the paediatric emergency unit, after registration on the duty roster validated by the doctor in charge.

The establishment authorised to operate a paediatric emergency unit organises, either internally or by special agreement with another health establishment, or within the framework of the network mentioned in article R. 6123-26, permanent access to all the human and technical resources necessary for the management of emergencies received in this unit, in particular recourse to a surgeon and an anaesthetist experienced in paediatrics.
