Article R6152-52 of the French Public Health Code

The secondment on request or its renewal is granted by the Director General of the National Management Centre, after obtaining the opinion of the head of the department, the head of the service, the chairman of the establishment’s medical committee and the director of the establishment in which the person concerned is working for the initial request and its first renewal. Article R6152-55 of the French Public Health Code

In the cases provided for in 2°, 4°, 6° and 8° of article R. 6152-51, the practitioner may not obtain a secondment before three years of service in his post. Only hospital practitioners appointed on a permanent basis may benefit from the secondment provided for in 5° of the aforementioned article. The request for secondment must be submitted by the practitioner at least two months in advance.

Article R6152-58 of the French Public Health Code

The secondment is granted for a maximum period of five years and may be renewed under the same conditions. When the period of secondment exceeds six months, the post is declared vacant, except in the case provided for in 3° of article R. 6152-51, for which the post is declared vacant when this period exceeds one year.
