Paragraph 2: Purpose of approval.

Approval is granted for the medical transport of sick, injured or parturient patients: 1° In all cases, as part of emergency medical aid ; 2° In addition, where applicable, to transport carried out on medical prescription.

Approval for medical transport carried out as part of emergency medical aid may only be granted to persons with : 1° Personnel in the categories mentioned in 1° or 2° of article R. 6312-7, possibly accompanied by personnel in the categories mentioned in 3° and 4° ; 2° One or more vehicles belonging to categories A, B or C mentioned in article R. 6312-8.

Approval for both transport carried out as part of emergency medical aid and transport carried out on medical prescription may only be granted to natural or legal persons governed by private law and to public or private health establishments with : 1° Staff who hold the ambulance driver’s State diploma, possibly accompanied by staff in the categories mentioned in 3° and 4° of article R. 6312-7 ; 2° At least…

The light medical vehicle is reserved for transporting a maximum of three patients in a seated position. It can be used to transport labile blood products. It can simultaneously transport one patient and the labile blood products intended for that patient.
