The staff of public authorities, companies, associations and their authorised establishments have access to funeral chambers and mortuary rooms under the conditions set out in articles R. 2223-75 and R. 2223-89-1. They also have access to crematoria under the conditions set out in the internal regulations.

Families have access to the funeral home, mortuary or crematorium where their deceased is located. The internal regulations specify the terms and conditions of this access.

The prefect of the department draws up a list of the régies, companies and associations and their establishments to which it has granted authorisation, in accordance with Article L. 2223-23. This list is updated every year. It is displayed in the reception areas of funeral chambers, mortuary rooms and crematoria and is available to families there. The managers of the facilities mentioned in article R. 2223-68 must ensure that no commercial documents are visible, subject to the provisions of articles R. 2223-71 and R. 2223-88.

When, in exceptional circumstances, certain provisions of this paragraph are difficult to apply, the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Health shall provide for them by means of temporary measures taken after obtaining the opinion of the High Council for Public Health.
