The employer shall take appropriate organisational measures or use appropriate means, in particular mechanical equipment, to avoid the need for workers to handle loads manually.

Where the need for manual handling of loads cannot be avoided, in particular due to the configuration of the premises where such handling is carried out, the employer shall take the appropriate organisational measures or make available to workers the appropriate means, if necessary by combining their effects, so as to limit the physical effort and reduce the risk incurred during this operation.
