The undermining of a structure by means of a mechanically driven machine is only authorised if it does not result in any danger.
A work floor is installed for demolition work carried out at a height of more than six metres above the ground. The floor located at the edge of the void is enclosed by guard rails and plinths established in accordance with the provisions of article R. 4534-78.
When demolition work is carried out at a height not exceeding 6 metres above ground level, the installation of a work floor is not compulsory, subject to the following provisions: 1° The work may only be entrusted to qualified workers; 2° It is forbidden to allow workers to climb walls to be demolished that are less than 35 centimetres thick.
Protective helmets must be worn for demolition work.
