Article R4412-83 of the French Labour Code

In the event of an incident or accident likely to lead to abnormal exposure to chemical agents which are carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction, only workers essential for carrying out repairs and other necessary work will be authorised to work in the affected area until the normal situation is restored and the causes of the abnormal exposure have been eliminated.

The employer shall provide workers authorised to work in the area affected by the incident or accident with protective clothing and individual respiratory protection equipment. He shall ensure that they are actually worn.
