Section 5: Storage or handling of flammable substances

Buildings and premises are designed and constructed in such a way as to comply with: 1° The provisions relating to the prevention of explosions set out in articles R. 4227-42 et seq.; 2° The provisions of article R. 4215-12; 3° Les dispositions spécifiques de l’arrêté prévu par l’article R. 4227-27 pour les installations industrielles utilisant le gaz combustible et les hydrocarbures liquéfiés.

Premises or areas in which substances or preparations classified as explosive, oxidising or extremely flammable are to be stored or handled, as well as materials in a physical state likely to give rise to risks of explosion or instantaneous ignition, must have appropriate permanent ventilation.

The premises mentioned in article R. 4216-22 as well as those in which substances or preparations classified as highly flammable or materials in such a physical state that they are likely to catch fire instantly on contact with a flame or spark and spread the fire rapidly are stored or handled, are designed and constructed in such a way that : 1° No normal workstation may be located more than…
