Chapter II: Aeration and sanitation

The client shall design and construct the buildings and their fittings in such a way that the enclosed premises in which workers are required to stay comply with the ventilation and sanitation rules set out in articles R. 4222-1 to R. 4222-17.

Ventilation systems are designed to : 1° Ensure that the air is renewed at all points in the premises; 2° Do not cause discomfort in the work areas, in particular as a result of air speed, temperature and humidity, noise and vibrations; 3° Do not lead to a significant increase in noise levels resulting from the activities envisaged in the premises.

Every precaution is taken when installing ventilation, collection or recycling equipment to allow for regular maintenance and subsequent checks on its efficiency.

The internal walls of air supply circuits do not contain materials that can disintegrate or decompose, emitting dust or substances that are hazardous to workers’ health.

In premises with non-specific pollution as defined in article R. 4222-3, the client: 1 Provides a filtration system for new air when there is a risk of pollution of this air by solid particles and its introduction is mechanical; 2 Takes the necessary measures to ensure that polluted air from premises with specific pollution as defined in the aforementioned article does not enter.

In an instruction manual sent to the employer, the project manager specifies the measures taken for ventilation and sanitation of the premises and the information required for maintaining the installations, checking their efficiency and drawing up the instructions for use provided for in article R. 4222-21.
