Article R3163-1 of the French Labour Code

The sectors in which the particular characteristics of the activity justify, in application of articles L. 3163-2 and L. 6222-26, the granting of a derogation from the ban on night work for young workers are: 1° Hotels; 2° Restaurants; 3° Bakeries; 4° Pastry shops; 5° Entertainment; 6° Horse racing, for all activities related to riding and leading in races.

Article R3163-3 of the French Labour Code

In the bakery and pastry-making sectors, night work for young workers may be authorised before 6 a.m. and, at the earliest, from 4 a.m. to enable young workers to take part in a complete bread or pastry-making cycle. Only establishments where not all phases of bread or pastry production are carried out between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. may benefit from this derogation.

Article R3163-5 of the French Labour Code

The exemption from the ban on night work for young workers is granted by the labour inspector for a maximum period of one year, renewable. The Labour Inspector will assess the particular characteristics of the activity justifying the exemption. If no response is received within one month of the application being submitted, the authorisation is deemed to have been granted.
