Section 3: Travel allowances and expenses

For each mediation, a lump-sum compensation is allocated to the mediators on the lists mentioned in article R. 2523-3 who have acted in this capacity and in application of articles L. 2523-1 to L. 2523-9. The rate of this compensation varies according to the scale of the dispute. The allowance paid includes the reimbursement of secretarial, correspondence and travel expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.

When the mediators call on the services of experts, the latter are paid on a sessional basis. Qualified persons who assist the mediators are paid a flat-rate fee.

The rates and conditions for awarding the fixed allowances provided for in articles R. 2523-17 and R. 2523-18 and the holiday allowances are set by joint order of the ministers responsible for labour, agriculture and finance.

Mediators, experts and qualified persons shall be reimbursed for travel and subsistence expenses incurred outside their place of residence in the performance of their duties, in accordance with the conditions laid down in the regulations in force for civil servants.
