Subsection 1: Inspection of permanent electrical installations

The employer shall carry out an initial inspection of the electrical installations when they are put into service and after they have undergone structural modification, in order to ensure that they comply with the safety requirements laid down in this chapter.

Initial verification is carried out by an accredited body.

The employer shall periodically check or have checked the electrical installations to ensure that they are maintained in compliance with the health and safety rules applicable to them.

Periodic inspections are carried out either by an accredited body or by a qualified person belonging to the company, whose competence is assessed by the employer in the light of criteria set out in an order issued by the Minister for Labour and the Minister for Agriculture.

The procedures and, where applicable, the frequency of the inspections provided for in articles R. 4226-14, R. 4226-16 and R. 4226-21, as well as the content of the corresponding inspection reports, are laid down by order of the ministers responsible for labour and agriculture.

The results of the inspections provided for in articles R. 4226-14 and R. 4226-16, together with details of the work and modifications carried out to remedy any defects found, are recorded in a register. Where the checks are carried out by an accredited body, the reports drawn up following these checks are attached to this register.

The register provided for in article R. 4223-19 and the inspection reports may be kept under the conditions provided for in article L. 8113-6.
