Subsection 2: Authorisation to practise for holders of evidence of formal qualifications as a dental surgeon obtained in the province of Quebec

The Conseil national de l’ordre will acknowledge receipt of the application within one month of its receipt. During this month, it will inform the interested party of any missing documents.

The Conseil national de l’ordre will forward the complete application, together with its opinion, to the Minister for Health, who will decide on the application for authorisation to practise.

After obtaining authorisation to practise the profession of dental surgeon, holders of evidence of formal qualifications obtained in the province of Quebec must apply for registration on the roll with the Conseil départemental de l’ordre of the planned place of establishment, under the conditions set out in articles R. 4112-1 to R. 4112-5-1.

Once they have been entered on the roll, holders of the authorisation to practise the profession of dental surgeon must complete a six-month training period, on a full-time or part-time basis. Part-time work must be carried out for at least five half-days a week. They are taken into account in proportion to the duration of the full-time duties. At the end of the third and sixth months, the traineeship is the subject of an assessment report, the model for which is set by order of the Minister for Health. The reports are sent without delay to the national dental surgeons’ association (Conseil national de l’ordre des chirurgiens-dentistes) with a copy to the person concerned.
