Paragraph 1: General provisions

When visiting prisons, the magistrates mentioned in articles D. 131-2, D. 131-3 and D. 131-4 of the Penitentiary Code have access to detention and, where appropriate, interview detainees, under the conditions determined by the provisions of article D. 134-3 of the same code.

Visits to prisons by magistrates and their observations are recorded in the register presented to them, in accordance with the provisions of article D. 130-1 of the Penitentiary Code.
