Subtitle I: Public and civil proceedings

Any obstacle of law, provided for by law, or any insurmountable obstacle of fact that can be assimilated to force majeure, which makes it impossible to initiate or pursue public action, suspends the statute of limitations.

When the civil action is brought before a criminal court, it is time-barred according to the rules of the public action. When it is brought before a civil court, it is time-barred according to the rules of the Civil Code.
