Section 4: Hospital duties for pharmacy students.

Hospital pharmacy students in the second year of the second cycle of pharmaceutical studies, in advanced training, participate in hospital activities under the conditions defined by this section. During the third short cycle of pharmaceutical studies, pharmacy students, provided that they participate in hospital activities, also have the status of pharmacy hospital students. Hospital pharmacy students are required to attend practical training for an average of five half-days per week over a twelve-month period. They take part in courses, tests and examinations during their university attendance time.

The hospital pharmacy students referred to in article R. 6153-77 participate in hospital activities under the responsibility of the referent provided for by order of the ministers responsible for higher education, health and, where applicable, defence, and the medical and pharmaceutical staff.

Hospital pharmacy students take part in hospital activities in the entities of the university hospital centre and public health establishments to which they are assigned and in similar structures in army hospitals. They may also be assigned to approved private health establishments linked to the university hospital centres by agreement pursuant to article L. 6142-5.

Before their first assignment, hospital pharmacy students must provide proof, in the form of one or more medical certificates sent to the director of the training and research unit to which they belong, that they meet the conditions required by the regulations in force relating to the compulsory immunisation of certain persons against certain diseases.

Hospital pharmacy students are assigned to training units by the director of the training and research unit to which they belong, on the basis of lists of available posts sent to him by each of the directors of the establishments to which the student is likely to be assigned.

Hospital pharmacy students may not be assigned to the same training unit more than twice. They may not be assigned to the same unit for less than two months or more than four months. The assignment of the persons concerned, the duties entrusted to them and the theoretical and practical instruction they are given take account of the knowledge they have acquired and the progress of their studies.

Hospital pharmacy students are subject to the internal rules of the establishment to which they are assigned. They are required to carry out the tasks entrusted to them during their placement and to fulfil the obligations arising therefrom. Students are informed of their attendance obligations by the head of the unit where the placement is taking place. Except in cases of force majeure, any absence that has not been authorised…

Hospital pharmacy students are entitled to annual leave of thirty working days, with Saturday counted as a working day. During this leave, they receive the remuneration provided for in article R. 6153-90.

In the event of duly certified illness or infirmity making it impossible for them to carry out their duties, hospital pharmacy students are entitled to one month’s leave during which they receive their full remuneration and one month’s leave during which they receive half their remuneration. In all cases determined in the present article, they retain their full family allowances.
