Section 3: Sponsorship

Volunteers with at least two years’ experience as apprenticeship masters or tutors, or five years’ professional experience, may be approved to carry out the mentoring activity provided for in article L. 6523-3.

Approval for persons authorised to act as sponsors is issued by the Prefect for a period of three years.

The same person may not sponsor more than three apprentices or young people on professionalisation contracts at the same time.

The role of the mentor is to assist and inform the apprentice or young person benefiting from the professionalisation contract. This role complements the duties of the apprenticeship master or tutor appointed under the aforementioned contract.

Sponsorship is unpaid.

The list of approved sponsors is drawn up by the Prefect. It includes the surname, first name, previous occupation and professional qualification of each sponsor. The list is available to employers at the Department of Labour, Employment and Vocational Training and at each town hall.

The replacement incomes mentioned in the second paragraph of Article L. 6523-3 are : 1° The insurance allowance mentioned in 1° of article L. 5421-2 ; 2° The allowance for self-employed workers and other allowances and indemnities governed by special schemes, mentioned in 3° of the same article; 3° L’allocation de congé solidarité, instituée sur le fondement de l’article 15 de la loi n° 2000-1207 du 13 décembre 2000 d’orientation…
