The assessment of the applicant’s vulnerability is carried out by agents of the French Office for Immigration and Integration who have received specific training for this purpose.

The vulnerability assessment aims, in particular, to identify minors, unaccompanied minors, people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, single parents with minor children, victims of human trafficking, people with serious illnesses, people with mental disorders and people who have been subjected to torture, rape or other serious forms of psychological, physical or sexual violence, such as female genital mutilation.

Information attesting to a particular situation of vulnerability is forwarded, with the asylum seeker’s agreement, by the Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration to the Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides (French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons).
