Section 2: Reservations relating to public policy and polygamy

The fact that the presence of a foreign national in France constitutes a threat to public order is an obstacle to the issue and renewal of the temporary residence permit, the multi-annual residence permit and the temporary residence permit provided for in articles L. 425-4 or L. 425-10, as well as to the issue of the resident permit and the resident permit bearing the words “long-term resident-EU”.

No residence document may be issued to a foreigner living in France in a state of polygamy. Any residence document held by a foreigner in such a situation will be withdrawn. The situation of the spouse of a foreign national referred to in the first paragraph is examined on an individual basis.
