Placement in the waiting area is pronounced for a period that may not exceed four days by a written and reasoned decision of an officer in a category set by regulation.This decision is entered in a register mentioning the civil status of the person concerned and the date and time on which the decision to place him/her was notified. It is immediately brought to the attention of the public prosecutor.
The foreign national placed in the waiting area shall be informed of his rights under the conditions provided for in article L. 343-1.
The detailed rules for the application of this section shall be laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.
