External border controls shall be carried out under the conditions laid down in Chapter II of Title II of Regulation 2016/399 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016.

In the cases provided for in Chapter II of Title III of Regulation 2016/399 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016, checks at internal borders may be reintroduced on a temporary basis.These checks shall be carried out under the conditions laid down in that Regulation.
