Subsection 2: Submission of applications

From the date on which the certificate of application for asylum is issued in accordance with the procedure laid down in article R. 521-8, the foreign national has a period of twenty-one days in which to lodge a complete application for asylum with the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons.

The application for asylum is made in French on a form drawn up by the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons. When the application is incomplete, the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons informs the applicant, who has eight days to complete it.

When the complete application is lodged within the time limit, the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons acknowledges receipt.The French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons informs the competent prefect and the Director General of the French Office for Immigration and Integration of the lodging of the application.
